Structural features:

  • Usually a car wheel hub bearing unit structure, which may use a double-row angular contact ball bearing or a similar design. This structure has a built-in high-performance seal ring, which can effectively prevent dust, moisture and other impurities from entering the bearing, while maintaining the sealing of the internal grease and extending the bearing life. Some wheel hub bearing units may also integrate sensor installation functions, such as providing signal monitoring for anti-lock braking systems (ABS), etc., to facilitate more precise control and safety performance improvement of vehicles.

Application:

  • Mainly used in the automotive field, suitable for a variety of models of brands such as IVECO, VOLVO, MAN, such as EuroCargo FL6, TGL/TGM, L2000 and other trucks. It is used to support the car wheel hub to ensure the smooth rotation of the wheel, and at the same time bear various loads during the vehicle driving process, including the vehicle’s own weight, the impact force caused by uneven road surface, and the force during braking.

Maintenance:

  • Regular inspection: Build the axle of the wheel at one end of the inspected wheel hub of the car, and turn the inspected wheel several times by hand to check whether the rotation is smooth and whether there is any abnormal noise. For small cars, you can also hold the upper and lower sides of the tire with both hands, turn the tire back and forth, and check for looseness and blocking.
  • Cleaning and lubrication: During maintenance, remove the decorative cover and dust cover of the hub axle head, scrape off the old grease in the bearing, journal and hub cavity, clean with detergent and wipe dry. Then apply an appropriate amount of grease to the inner cavity of the bearing. Be careful to squeeze the grease into the bearing until it comes out from the other side. At the same time, apply a thin layer of grease in the hub cavity and the axle head cover for rust prevention.
  • Parts inspection: Check the hub bearing and bearing race. If cracks, fatigue peeling, loose bearing rollers or pitting on the bearing race are found, the bearing should be replaced. At the same time, check the matching of the inner diameter of the bearing and the journal. The matching clearance should not be greater than 0.10mm. If it exceeds the specified use limit, the bearing should also be replaced.
  • Installation and adjustment: Install the hub and outer bearing back on the journal and tighten the adjustment nut according to the specified torque. After tightening, turn the wheel hub several times to make the bearing and race fit correctly, ensure that the bearing is properly tight, the wheel rotates freely and no axial play is felt. After installation, drive a certain distance (about 10km), stop and check the wheel hub temperature. If it is hot, the bearing may be adjusted too tight and needs to be readjusted.
